Bart Meijer

Rapid progress, and Taneyev!

March 3, 2006 at 8:17 PM

The violin has been good to me in the past months. It is as if the time when I learnt to play as a child was filmed, and episodes from that movie are being played. Here we have little Bart playing a Kreutzer etude, this is a slightly older Bart playing Bach, and this is a teenage Bart playing Rode #23 (doesn't sound that well. It needs time and patience to fix the projector.)
It's amazing how much happiness there is in playing the violin.
A few days ago, the music for Taneyev's Concert Suite arrived in the mail. It is exactly how some of you people said it would be: gorgeous piece of beautiful and serious music, and very difficult. I cannot yet imagine playing it to my own satisfaction, let alone anyone else's, But things have been that way with other pieces, too. So let's just start practicing, and who knows?
