New Attitude and New Violin

Well, I've been gone for a while. Not literally. I've been at home, in the same old place. But gone from violin blogging.

Reason: I've been feeling very demotivated and guilty. I feel like I should be much better than I am for how much money I've spent, and this is death for creativity and growth. I've also been very ratehr selfish. After all, what am I going to do with the violin? Is it worth all the time and the effort and the expense?

Finally, I worked through it. Answer: sure it is. If I enjoy it, why not?

So, I traded in Gilbert and stepped up to a more advanced instrument from my local luthier. I love it. I haven't decided for sure yet, but think this violin is a girl. She has a darker, richer sound and look. And a much nicer case, too.
