holding the bow

August 14, 2015 19:27

I am relearning to hold the bow as I'm trying to learn the stacato. from what I've seen in videos I'm assuming that the thumb must press against the stick at all times. I had always held the thumb under the stick. Is my new assumption correct? Please help. Thank you.

holding the bow

August 8, 2015 16:05

I'm relearning the way to hold the bow. For years I held the bow with my thumb UNDER the stick with the other fingers 'cooperating' to maneuver the bow strokes. In trying to learn the stacatto, I've come to the conclusion that the thumb should press AGAINST the stick, rather than support it from under. please help
