Ugh...I'm sick. Yesterday was worst, had to skip my violin lesson. Headache, stomachache, shoulder-ache, tension, shakiness...the list goes on. I'm feeling a lot better today, though, and managed a kind of half-violin lesson. (More chatting than playing.) Anyway, I'm playing on Andrea Clearfield's November salon, which will be fun. I'm playing the first mvt. of the Vieuxtemps 4, and the second Hungarian Dance by Brahms (VERY fun little piece, good encore.) Also, preparing for...da da dum...the Philadelphia Orchestra Competition! This year, I have a really good chance I think. 1, I'm a year more advanced! 2, my violin teacher is lending me his violin which is PERFECT for me! (It's a full size but really narrow and good for small hands.) Last year I used my 3/4 which didn't have as good a sound. 3, I've already done it once so I know what to expect. 4, the Vieuxtemps is a good piece for this competition; it's won a few times (but not too many!) 5, I don't think there's any Curtis kids young enough to play in the Children's division this year. (At least I hope not!) So I'm feeling very good about this.
School is hard...it was easier last year when my sister was also in the JR High and could help get HW to me (I go to school only 3 days a week.) But now, I only have my other sister Calla to rely on. Calla is sweet and has many talents, but remembering stuff is not one of them. Sigh.
Gaaarrrrr....duty calls.
