Sarah Chang's Guarneri del Gesu questionable ???!!!

September 14, 2011 07:45

A few months I had asked Sarah Chang in an email regarding her violin label. I asked her what the label read, and this is what she replied "My violin says Guarnerius Del Gesu, Cremona 1717."

Now doesn't that look a bit sketchy ?? Cz first off, GDG was never called Del Gesu in 1717, it was only from the 1730's onwards and moreover he NEVER put the words "del Gesu" in his labels ?????

EXperts, luthiers and anyone , please give me your opinions and thoughts on this.. It's just bothering.
