Got my tix!

April 3, 2006 07:22

Last night, I received one of the periodic emails my daughter's violin teacher sends around to his students about upcoming concerts.

His specialty is hunting down inexpensive great concert opportunities. He's the guy who turned me on to the People's Symphony concerts (http://pscny.org/).

He's not given to hyperbole (an understatement), so I took his comments extremely seriously:

"I highly recommend hearing this violinist. He is one of the most extraordinary musicians alive. Don't miss this. This will be the concert of the year."

As I was reading up to this point, the doorbell rang and I had to leave not having discovered who this amazing talent was.

When I finally got back, I discvered who it was: ChuanYun Li (http://www.violinist-chuanyunli.com/english/index.html)

The concert: http://cnso.shenlaw.com/060509/

I bought my tickets on the spot -- 5th row center at Avery Fisher Hall, Tuesday, May 9. They're also travelling to Long Island, and around the country throughout May.

I can hardly wait.

A few weeks after that, it's Vengerov at Carnegie Hall. Not too shabby.
