Please support Rachel Barton Pine's Kickstarter!

December 21, 2012 at 5:54 PM

Hi, fellow violinists and violin enthusiasts.

I'm very excited that Cedille Records is releasing my next concerto album, Mendelssohn and Schumann violin concertos with the Göttinger Symphonie Orchester.

Cedille has launched a Kickstarter on my behalf. We are hoping to raise $10,000 through Kickstarter, 12.5% of the projected $80,000 budget, to ensure that this project can be completed. Please visit the Mendelssohn/Schumann Kickstarter page to learn more about the project and about the special gifts you'll receive for each pledge level - starting at just $10.

The project will only be funded if we reach our $10,000 goal by December 31 - just 10 days from now.

Cedille is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, so your donation is fully tax-deductible.

I'm so excited about this recording and really hope that you can be part of it!

Happy Holidays!

Rachel :)

Ok, seriously. Now every week someone is asking for money. Shouldn't there be a record label who pays for the CD?

lol, this is pretttttty funny. Don't you want to support yet another recording of these concertos? Let's get the ball rolling on the kickstarter to get my mortgage paid.

I supported Crista Kende's campaign a few days ago largely because she was "unestablished". For established musicians like Rachel, I say "Let the label pay". They will reap the rewards, so they should take the risk.

But the Schumann Concerto is fine and an interesting choice. Anyway, I think she is auite well known and should not beg for 10k. If her manager made a bad deal, thats bad luck. But I don't think so. Maybe she's spending all the money on the insurance of her strad... del gesu, sorry..

Well most labels act as big credit cards but stillllll, come on. This holiday season I hope everyone will be able to donate a little bit (even a dollar) to their fav cause...even if this is it.
