Dear Readers,
String Players make Statements with Wearable Art
(or All About that Bass)
As a music themed artist my (Violettes by Becky) Gypsy Violin was accepted for display at the Tyson McGee Airport (Knoxville, TN) Arts in the Airport Exhibit - quite an honor for me. This piece was created for a project in conjunction with a story written by composer writer Paul Brody who resides in Berlin, Germany.
I have a hobby type small business making violin purses that string professionals love as gig bags for spare strings, metronome... When a cellist requested a larger size, I turned the violin bag vertical. So when I went to the International Bluegrass Festival last fall as a vendor (my very first time as a music festival vendor), everyone walking by said 2 things that really stood out. 1) You're a genius and 2) Look at all the Bass Purses! At first, I didn't know what these people were talking about (on both accounts - and still don't on the genius thing!). It took me this long to figure out that string players CAN make a universal fashion statement! As a gig bag, I think my merchandise competition is, well.. maybe a baggie. But Can you imagine everyone walking around with Violettes by Becky vertical Violins?? (We have black and brown leather versions now for men.) What FUN that would be.
I thought this would be a fun way to present the purses/gig bags. They are designed very specifically for string players, and are boutique quality. Be the first in your town to make this fashion statement!
Sincerely,
Becky
