Violinist Madeleine Mitchell is crowdfunding her latest project: to make an album of violin works specially written for her over the past few years, in 7 world premiere recordings of music by established UK composers. This includes a violin concerto with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales conducted by Edwin Outwater, 5 works with piano including a piece by Michael Nyman and wonderful celtic violin duos by Judith Weir, Master of the Queen's Music, called 'Atlantic Drift'. This title somewhat reflects Madeleine Mitchell's life, studying as a Fulbright/ITT Fellow in New York, based in the UK, performing internationally and directing an eclectic violin festival celebrating folk and jazz as well as classical. This short video tells more, with brief sound clips of a fine range of appealing music: TweetThis article has been archived and is no longer accepting comments.
