Hi,were Andrew and Trudi, and today we made noise from our violins (thanks mainly to those people that gave us the info on how to rosin our bows)!,it probably sounded absolutely terrible, but to us it was the best thing that we have ever heard.
We spent some time learning to get to know the strings with an open hand, and to learn how to tune(this we still need to brush up on and probably will for some time to come).

It certainly bought a smile to our faces
and we can't wait to get going in earnest.

great to hear from you. Congratulations on choosing (in my humble opinion) the best instrument available. Good luck with your studies, and welcome to the wonderful world of music.
