i recently heard Maxim Vengerov's recording of the Walton Viola Concerto..it had to be one of the worst recording of the piece i ever heard(the worst is of course, yuri bashmet). Vengerov's tone was raspy and decreped. his technique of the viola was quite bad, i just think hes amazing at violin. but his viola playing is AWFUL!!!! ugh, it was bad....im really getting into szigeti.

im really happy. i got two new violin students! they can play, but one doesnt know some of the notes....so with her im gonna start slow..help her figure them out then give her various etudes to help her technique. same tyhing with her brother. i havent heard them yet, but im glad they arent fresh out starting violin and know at least how to hold the instrument some what rioght and know some of the notes and all. the younger one is apparantly better but we'll see. im really excited. ui havent heard them play yet, im just going by what the mother told me. i hear them in about two weeks, when i have my first lessons with them. so exciting! som, i was really the other day. this kid in my school sent me emails pretneding to be someone that i had a crush on in school. you could imagine my melancholy state after i found out some kid was playing a joke on me. margaretha's class today. she really helped me out with my playing! she said my rhythm is sooooooooo much better! i was really happy. i mean, it wasnt awful but it certainly wasnt too great. now, its a lot better. yay! :)she also told me to vibrate before i put the finger down, and to work on my bow distribution, since i put to much of myself in a piece and not enough of tchiakovsky(im learning the canzonetta with her) what a great teacher. shes so much fun. this weirdo kid is like, stalking my friend. i feel bad for her. ugh. music history final tomorrow. and a social studies test. ughhhhh....later....

ugh. really angry. just bought a game for my gameboy and realized its only for gameboy color. damn....$20 on nothing. i should probably buy a gameboy color though. regular gameboy is so old.....so in a few weeks i will. so i didnt spend completly nothing. then i can get new games. but damn, these gameboy colors are like $90....ughhhh. im goin to prom with beatrice. i have to buy a ticket for that.....ughhhh....well, i better go. later.

schiubert had an in class recital...i played massenet(im sorry i dont like that piece)and i had chnaged my strings a little bit before the concert. so of coruse all my strings went out of tune. it was actually hysterical....but whatever....rhythm got soooooooooooooooooo much better. stupid rhythm brought my whole image down. sightreading a lot.....

wow. havent really practiced this week. ugh. sooo much work. gotta get back to walton concerto. margaretha gave me the mozart e minor sonata today transposed for viola. its nice. i need to work on my 4th finger vibrato. later

i had an audition yesterday../..i played well, but my instrument went incredibly out of tune gradually asi played. so bad that they stopped me andi had to tune again and play something else. i hopei got it anyway i mean, they heard a decent amount of playing....

today was nice. i studied my butt off for a math test and it ended up going really well. i sight read some in margarethas class....wow. my rhythm sucks....haahahah....oh well! its gotten so much better. ughi have so much practicing to do today!well, this kid came in today to cac to play for margaretha. he played allegro brilliante by some dutch guy.....and at first i thought he was gonna be some little prodigy....but a lot of the notes about 1/3 were out of tune. he also couldnt bow quite well(well, that okay he was 12) and he didnt know the names of the notes.....so margaretha did the best she could. i felt bad for him tho. i really have to work on my sightreading. i think to do that i will get parts to chamber pieces and then work on them. like some mozart or something. over the summer i will. i mean, i dont have trouble alone, its mostly when im doing chmaber music i need to focus more on my part when sightreading.

Last night was really fun. First of all, my lesson went really well. we did some Flesch, Sevcik, and then some Walton. He wants me prepare the whole first movement for next week...uhh yeah right! Ill prepare a decent amount though. anyway, after my lesson i practiced for my recital at the retirement center(godi hope it goes well, considering some of the music i havent even LOOKED AT)...and then, my friedn karissa and i wanted something to do. so she called her friend at msm college...and we went up to the dorms and sightread chamber music! ahh! it was soooo much fun. We sghtread a lot of Brahms, i think 2 Brahms quintets,and then i read through Shostikovich no. 8 string quartet. that was hard esepciallly i tihnk it was the 3rd movement. considering i had never even heard the piece before....but it was so much fun! i hope i get to do thatsoon. i think i will considering my stand partner is going to MSM. yay! well, i gotta go....later....

im so depressed. i just feel like everything i do sucks. i cant stand viola anymore. i dont know. i could work a lot harder, and then i think, buti am working hard. i need to work on etudes more in my lessons. my shifting is getting better....i think its more of an issue that we havent worked on etudes in a while b/c of that competition. so i think i really need to. i guess thats what we'll do in my lesson tomorrow. b/c my intonation and shifting are paying the price due to not working on it in lessons. i am just depressed as usual. later.
