February 2003

It's been such a busy week again, and I just want to crash. I just pulled out my piece that I'm preparing for a competition that's in a week from Wednesday, and so I have been trying to re-memorise it for the competition. I'm looking forward to it, except that it comes the week of my symphony tour. It's a big tour that I do once a year, and always look forward too, but at the same time dread, as it means that we have no more tours for another entire year, and I love touring, and meeting people, and getting a chance to get their feedback and opinions on the concerts.

I'm going to Vancouver tomorrow for a few days, and will likely take a stop at the big music store downtown, and pick up some stuff. Hmmm...what to pick up?? I'm thinking maybe Fratres and spiegel im spiegel by arvo part, and maybe the Schumann A minor Sonata as well as a couple of other things. I guess I can decide for sure when I get there and see what thy have and what I want, and how much money I want to spend.

I'm really falling in love with the Grieg Sonata, it's just such a gorgeaus piece, and has so much emotion that you can't help but like it when you play it! Well I should sign off for now, I need to practice and pack before it gets to much later.

I'm starting to get a bit frustrated with my vibrato. I'm preparing Grieg's c minor Sonata next month, and I would really like it if I could have a wider vibrato for the beautiful singing movement of this teriffic work. I've just started working on some new repertoire which I am thouroughly enjoying. I feel so priveleged to be playing to violin and getting all the opportunities that I have had this past year and will be experiencing this coming summer and year. I'm thrilled and excited right now, as I was just accepted to a music camp/program this summer, with some of this countries greatest teachers, and performers, which I'm looking very much forward to. There really isn't a whole lot new since my last entry. I've been just busy with practicing, performing, rehearsals, and studying and all the other stuff that I have been juggling for the past while.
