Fun with Ysaye!

March 8, 2011 14:13

Well...it is now spring break in my neck of the woods. Time to relax!! Or not. I still have to rip up "tile" in the laundry room as my part of a Nicola Benedetti deal (she was awesome, by the way). And since I can't motivate myself to do that right now, nor to write my two papers due in two weeks, I've been...fiddling around per say. I was looking through my Ysaye sonatas (of which level I'm not ready for yet) and decided to finger through them while listening to my Kavakos recordings. When I arrived at the first movement of his fifth sonata I figured I'd actually give it a half hours look at it...three days later, I've probably spent a total of 5 hours on it. It seems more simple to play than other sonatas. Granted double stops are always tricky, but it actually seems do-able. Therefore, I'm asking for any tips yall may have in making this piece better. It would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Justin
