The YouTube Symphony Orchestra – a fresh approach to classical music?

April 16, 2009 at 3:03 AM

It is a great pleasure to be making a film about the musicians who will come together to form the YouTube Symphony Orchestra that will perform at Carnegie Hall on 15 April 2009.
We are travelling around the world to meet and film the hopeful short-listed musicians and the exceptional winners in the places they live. We are publishing short films, as we go, and inviting feedback in our forums on the shape and message of the final film - Harmony: The Road to Carnegie Hall.

We have set up a web site for the film at http://www.harmonyfilm.com and are adding web pages for each musician we meet, with fascinating results.

Here just one example of the many outstanding individuals we've met.  Titus Flueras is from Cluj-Napoca in Transylvania, Romania.  Have a look at the video.  I'm sure you'll agree he's an extraordinary violinist that might not have been discovered on an international stage were it not for the power of the internet.
