Been a long time gone

December 28, 2008 15:27

I haven't posted a blog on here in a long while.......not sure anyone would even remember me, but....what the heck.

I've been keeping up with the practice as much as I possibly can.  I'm just as hooked on this passion as when I first started out....it hasn't diminished for me at all.   I like to think that I'm getting better at this, but still a long way to go.   It's been just over 6 years since I started....so how good could I possibly be anyway ?

These past few months I've had all sorts of opportunities to play for folks.  At my church we have 4 praise groups and I'm in one of them.  We take turns and each get an opportunity to do worship once a month....occasionally filling in when one of the others can't make it for some reason or other.    This Christmas season has been especially fun !   I played for the Christmas cantata....really enjoyed getting together at practices with the group and had great fun at the performance as well.  The music was easy enough to play that I wasn't very nervous for a change.  There were a few places I had to shift....anytime I do that is a risk....haha.....most times I get it, but if I'm really nervous I can flub it up......but I actually connected quite well and played through nicely.  Felt real good !

I was able to go to the Christmas Eve service for the first time in over 20 years !  My husband's family gets together that night so that's where we'd go instead.   My teacher and I played violin along with the piano as folks were filing in and we had a special duet during the service "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring"....and we played along with all the hymns as well.  I had a GREAT time and loved every minute of it !    It was also our turn to do worship today and next sunday we're doing the Cantata for the service as the weather was lousy the night we performed and a lot of people didn't get to come.

Lots and Lots of opportunities to play !   I may have finally gotten over the crippling nervousness with all this playing !   I sure hope so !   It's great to just get up there and play without that bother !

Enough rambling I guess.   Just wanted to pop in and update my blog.  I don't  blab on here often enough to get to know anyone here at all....just hope maybe someone or two would be interested in reading about a hackers journey on the violin...haha...
