Warren Jacobs - musical marvel and extraordinary professor of Violin.

December 15, 2011 12:31

Warren Jacobs has very sadly died after a long and valiant struggle with cancer. I'm given to understand he was peaceful and fast asleep when he took his final breath. Many tributes have been paid him in recent days and many more will surely come. He was vivacious, tireless and full of energy for all his students bar none, pursuing as he did, the Russian, Czech school of playing in terms of technique. However, his real strengths came in his intellectual understanding of his pupils needs, individually. He applied fairness and consistency with each and every one in his pursuit of excellence and musical prowess - he always looked for each student to find their unique voice through the violin. This devotion only comes with a love of music and a thorough understanding of it, it's abilities and influences and the ability to change students for the better in their desire to learn more. He had therefore, a love of mankind. He has created an extended family as a result and this will only and always be a good thing.
