Today has been a lot of fun, with two rehearsals on little student ensembles! I've been playing a lot of violin this weekend... This morning my friend for her grad school audition was recording herself conducting our small group (single strings) in Brahms' Serenade No. 1, the first two movements; we had our only other rehearsal on it yesterday. It was fun running through it and working out a couple of small tricky spots with a great student conductor. The second piece was my other friend's chamber opera she wrote; we will have rehearsals for it every Sunday and perform the work with singers in March I believe. For both of these experiences, it has filled me with so much joy! Freshman year, one of the things I really wanted to do was play my violin with a group. It is so wonderful that it's finally happening! It will be wonderful to take some mental notes so when I conduct my Henry V tone-poem for rehearsals probably next fall, I'll have some things to think about for those! Feeling more and more in the mode of college at the musical level.... Tweet
