Standard Flesch chinrest with bump or Flat Flesch??

April 26, 2018, 1:58 PM · Do you prefer the standard Flesch center chinrest with bump or the Flat Flesch?
I've been playing without a shoulder rest. It is just more comfortable for me. I have the standard Guarneri chinrest. I find myself putting my chin over the part that goes over the tailpiece. I don't play in the cup part at all. I like to lock my jaw/chin into that ridge. Keeps everything stable. For those in similar situations which of the Flesch chinrests do you prefer and why?

Chin rests preferences are so personal, and the physical makeup, comfort preferences and playing style of the player all contribute to the preferred setup. If you want an edge for you chin to hold onto, the Flesch model with the bump will be beneficial. Otherwise, the flat one might be the better choice.
