Session 1: June 18-29
Session 2: July 2-13

The School for Strings' Chamber Music Workshop, now in its fifth year, offers a rich and unique curriculum to pre-professional level students of both pre-college and college age. To acccommodate a wide rang of ages, the Workshop is divided into Junior and Senior Divisions. Careful attention is paid when forming ensembles in order to ensure the best possible match of participating students.

The workshop provides students with a concentrated course of study that is not possible during the academic year: frequent chamber music coachings, private instrumental lessons and multiple opportunities to participate in solo and chamber music recitals. Throughout both sessions, groups in the Senior Division perform in master classes taught by internationally-renowned artists. Instrumental master classes are by audition only.

Chamber Music and Orchestra Performances will take place at two of New York’s established professional performance venues: Christ and St. Stephen Church on the Upper West Side (Session 1) and Barge Music in Brooklyn (Session 2). Christ and St. Stephen Church is centrally located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, a stone’s throw away from Lincoln Center. The Barge is New York’s only floating formal concert stage with spectacular views of Manhattan. Both concerts will be open to general public as well as the Workshop community.

The Program offers limited, need-based scholarship assistance to students who qualify.
