Prelude Chamber Music Camp
Last edited by Jeanne Majors.
Prelude Chamber Music Camp welcomes students of all ages & abilities. The focus is on strings but other instrumentalists, including pianists, are accepted. A teacher recommendation is the only requirement for admission. Students may organize their own small ensemble or be assigned to one based on a placement audition.
There are two 1-week sessions offering coached small & larger ensembles; theory instruction; a special event each day featuring faculty or campers; techniques classes; and weekly concerts and outreach programs for the community. Students may chose to attend both sessions or only one. There are three study tracks being offered this year:
Primary Track: For first-timers or those who are younger or not quite ready for the pace of our Prelude Track camp experience.
Prelude Track: Campers must be at least 8 years old and demonstrate an ability to read music and perform music from at least Book 2 of Suzuki (or equivalent) at the placement auditions.
Intensive Track: For advanced students interested in tackling serious works from the chamber music literature. Enrollment will be by invitation based on placement auditions.
There will be a final gala concert on June 18 in the evening featuring ensembles from the intensive track and some faculty performers.
Please go to our web site to see details about tuition, which varies according to the track and week(s) of enrollment.
