When: Where: The Meadowmount School of Music is a 7-week summer school for string players and pianists who are training for professional careers in music. 200+ students, ages 8 to 30+, come to Meadowmount from all parts of the world each year. The director is Owen Carman, and on the violin faculty are Sally Thomas, Charles Avsharian, Amy Barlowe, Alan Bodman, Gerardo Ribeiro, Steven Rochen, Walter Schwede, and Ann Setzer. Cello faculty includes Owen Carman, Melissa Kraut and Hans Jorgen Jensen. Viola Faculty includes Alan Bodman and Patricia McCarty. Piano faculty, Eric Larsen. Among the alumni of Meadowmount are Joshua Bell, Kyung-Wha Chung, Daniel Heifetz, Miriam Fried, Soovin Kim, Jaime Laredo, Robert McDuffie, Itzhak Perlman, William Preucil, Paul Zukofsky, and Pinchas Zukerman. While solo repertoire is the main focus at Meadowmount, the chamber music is amazing. Individual practice time for students is five or more hours every day. Come prepared to improve!
