Encore School for StringsLast edited by Laurie Niles. When: Where: Located on the campus of Western Reserve Academy in the small, charming town of Hudson, Ohio, ENCORE is a prestigious, six-week-long string program for students ages 13 to college age. ENCORE was founded by David and Linda Cerone, of the Cleveland Institute of Music in 1985, and remains a division of CIM. (Trivia: "ENCORE" is an anagram of "Cerone".) Students participate in chamber music and studio classes and take private lessons. The campus is walking distance from a small town with restaurants, clothing stores, and other boutiques. Children younger than 13 attending ENCORE must stay with a parent off-campus. Among the alumni of ENCORE are Judith Ingolfsson, Soovin Kim, Hilary Hahn, Leila Josefowicz, Lara St. John, Scott St. John, Ellen de Pasquale, and Nicholas Kitchen. On the violin faculty at ENCORE the Cerones, Victor Danchenko, Rossitza Jekova-Goza, Robert Lipsett, Dorothy Mauney, Elizabeth Pitcairn, William Preucil, Stephen Rose, David Russell (of violinist.com fame!), and David Updegraff.
