The Aspen Music Festival and School is a high-level, nine-week long summer festival for musicians ages 8 to 68, from 39 countries all around the world. Situated in the beautiful town of Aspen, Colorado, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, it offers more than 200 musical events during the nine weeks. There are individual lessons, chamber music, orchestra, and extras including conducting. Illustrious violin alumni from Aspen include Joshua Bell, Sarah Chang, Nigel Kennedy, Cho-Liang Lin, Robert McDuffie, Midori, Shlomo Mintz, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, and Gil Shaham.

For 7 of the last 8 years I have attended the Aspen Music Festival and School. My visits have ranged from a week (my first time) and grew to 5 weeks. I attend not as a student but as an enthusiast. This festival/school is beyond fantastic. I regularly attend 4-5 musical events a day... most for free! Over the years I have made many friends and watched young violinists grow up. I have also become friends with many of the soloists. Aspen is a place you will see all kinds of well known artists relaxing and enjoying the music and Mountains with their children.I have gotten to know some of the students extremely well. The school is first rate... dare I say the top? I would encourage any one to audition. Aspen School just received a 25 million dollar gift to re-do the campus (it was badly in need) so spirits are high. I start yearning for Aspen around April... It will grab you heart completely.
