Crafting a violin, traditionally
Submitted by Brian Lisus: This video was filmed several years ago of me making a violin. So although I might have aged my techniques of making string instruments is still very much the same! I thought musicians visiting violinist.com might enjoy seeing the process of making a violin traditionally.

A great video. It just confirms to me that violin making is an exacting science, but what subtle variations might create a myriad of options. I'm sure, if I'd taken a different turn at an early age, violin making could have been my forte. And so rewarding. I'd love to experiment with all those possible wood thicknesses, glues, varnishes, drying techniques, wood types etc. etc. What a fantastic and rewarding skill.

Thank you. Thank God there are still people like you to give some violins that added beautiful sound that comes only from the love involved in their creation. I do believe it makes a difference.
