Miss Campbell of Saddell.Submitted by Dougie Lawrence: A beautiful Slow Air from the pen of Robert Mackintosh.(1745-1807).Taken from my album"As you'd expect". CommentsFrom Geoff Caplan (Posted: Jul 12, 2009) Good to find you here! I'm an adult beginner, aiming at playing Scottish fiddle in the Doric style. I do love your playing and will be modelling my style on it so far as I am able (plus Hector, of course, and Paul). Not sure I agree that Scottish fiddling is becoming a lost art, but certainly a lot of the youngsters do seem to be developing a kind of "generic celtic" style with extreme tempos and a lot of flashy Irish-influenced ornamentation. It would be a great pity if the regional styles died out entirely... I've virtually worn out your CD - time for a second, surely? If you don't have a publisher, why not self-publish or approach Simon Thoumire and do one of his low-cost white-label recordings? With most of Hector's work out of print, there's a lack of good recordings of the Doric style for students to work with. So I do feel it's important for the players of your generation to leave a legacy for the youngsters of the future...
