August 29, 2017, 7:09 PM · As long as women do it too I'm ok with this.
August 29, 2017, 8:07 PM · I would only do it with a very cheap instrument.
Edited: August 29, 2017, 8:23 PM · Been there, done that. Got so cold I actually had a decent vibrato. :)
August 29, 2017, 8:22 PM · Do you use shoulder rests?
Edited: August 29, 2017, 11:11 PM · I don't need that kind of stunt: I'm already a violist..
August 30, 2017, 6:13 AM · He sure plays in high positions
August 30, 2017, 6:32 AM · I'd just leave that one for the professionals.
August 30, 2017, 6:51 AM · What's the best rosin for that altitude?
August 30, 2017, 6:51 AM · "He described falling from 15,000 feet as very exhilarating " understatement of the century! Good for him, the crazy nut!
August 30, 2017, 9:43 AM · I've jumped out of a plane from 15,000 ft. I can't imagine doing that naked or playing violin.
I mean, the wind was blowing folds in my face.Things tend to flap around. And it's cold up there!
August 30, 2017, 10:35 AM · So bl**dy cold I doubt one would shock anyone on arrival!
Edited: August 31, 2017, 9:29 AM · Brass monkeys come to mind. I can't think why ;)
August 31, 2017, 3:36 AM · The Strad article refers to him as a violist: does this matter?
Edited: August 31, 2017, 6:47 AM · Of course it matters... I'm amazed he managed to open the parachute.

August 31, 2017, 4:09 PM · I don't see how he could get tuned quickly enough without gear pegs...
Edited: September 1, 2017, 10:18 AM · No matter HOW popular it becomes, I'm NOT going to try it. And that's a promise!
September 1, 2017, 11:08 AM · And The Lark Ascending on a viola? Would sound like an albatross descending!

To be fair this violist could be trying to play a violin..

September 1, 2017, 2:01 PM · okay, we have argued for a long time to go restless, not mindless.
Attention seeking in all the wrong ways?
September 1, 2017, 4:30 PM · Is this the solution for anyone who has body-image issues? Going naked? I rather hope not! ;-)
September 1, 2017, 4:55 PM · Jumping off a perfectly good airplane isn't very smart to begin with, then playing a crappy instrument in the nude just tops it off IMO! Not likely to become trendy... I hope. ??
September 1, 2017, 4:58 PM · The next thing new posters will ask: "if i started violin when i was 15 and am in Suzuki 4 can i play vivaldi skydiving naked for my Julliard audition and become a professional?"
September 1, 2017, 4:58 PM · I thought it would be fun to have a super-silly weekend vote about the matter:

Edited: September 2, 2017, 9:50 AM · He should have done this with a naked sky-diving orchestra accompanying him. Otherwise, he really would sound exposed.

Actually, I did once read about a naked sky-diving violinist accompanied by a naked sky-diving orchestra playing the Brahms Concerto. Overall, his performance wasn't that great, but what a cadenza!!!!

And, by the way, if you do that, after you've played the piece, do you bow to the audience, and then have the orchestra stand to take its applause?

As an afterthought, doesn't it make sense that if you're going to sky-dive nude, you should also de-nude the fiddle? (i.e., take the strings off the violin and hairs off the bow)
