Now, my ensemble charts here are for two fiddle lines, a cello line, and I provide the chords for comping instruments (or re-orchestration, if someone has the need).
You are free to download and use the arrangements, just don't say you wrote them.
For a month, the pdf of Weaver MacFarlane's Choon Book will be available here:
(There is only one file to download at that link: weaver-v-0.2.pdf).
I will update the book with further arrangements, and release substantially more music every few months. But, already there are about twenty concert standard arrangements in the pdf.
Please note, all fiddlers will need to think about their bowing, if they play these charts, especially when there are several fiddlers on each line (eg, in a Celtic fiddle club ensemble). Without characteristic bowing that pleases the players, the music will lose some of its fiddle qualitites.
Audio files of many of these arrangements can be heard on Soundcloud. Search for Weaver MacFarlane.
Here is a link to one arrangement, The Raivlin Reel, to show you the front door: https://soundcloud.com/user-155461785/the-raivlin-reel
I will organise a permanent home for these arrangements shortly.
My efforts here are simply to provide another resource to fiddlers (and cellists who play in fiddle clubs).
If anyone has difficulties downloading the pdf, please let me know: email@example.com.
Good luck, and let me know if there is a particular choon you would like set for two fiddle lines, cello, and comp.
