Case and Appraisal in Atlanta

Instruments: Where to get violin case and appraisal in Atlanta area?

I haven't played in 6 years, but I have a 1970 Roth copy of the 1700 Strad. From what I read, it's toward the bottom of the barrel. Back in '99, I think I paid $2000 for the violin itself, a nice pernambuco bow, and a case.

Two things:

1) I need a new case in which to store the instrument. The current case is a viola case and I'd like something smaller. Since I don't play anymore, something cheap that'd keep the violin safe will do. I have NO problem buying online.

2) I'd like to get the instrument appraised - I'm currently a grad student at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. If it's worth a decent amount and likely to appreciate in value, I'll keep it. If it's "junk", I'll sell it.

Anyway, thanks in advance for your replies.

Huthmaker's Violin Shop has a good selection of accessories, and should be able to give you an appraisal.

Here's the info:

I second Huthmakers. I make the 4 hour drive from NC to do business with them. They're WONDERFUL.

I prefer Williams Gengakki. Reginald Williams is the owner. The shop has a great selection of accessories. Reginald has worked with many fine instruments and has a ton of experience in handling instruments from Strad to "shop" violin. If you are at GT, his Buckhead shop is fairly close. The web address with info is www.williamsgengakki.com

Yah I'd suggest Williams-Gengakki, Atlanta Violins, or Ronald Sachs. And as for buying a case, I've found it much cheaper to just buy online from a place like shar or swstrings.
