I do know the piece was written for Yehudi Menuhin, who plays the piece just marvelous.

I am only aware of 2 versions on LP.
And the piece was not written _for_ Menuhin, but rather dedicated to him ;)

Dedicated then, sorry Mr.Bloch. The new dvd released on Jan. 24th. 2006 titled Menuhin: "The Violin Of The Century" contains three bonus tracks, one of the tracks is Menuhin playing the Avodah from 1972. If your a Menuhin fan, then you should grab this dvd.

Good luck with that Adam, I hope you find it. Her recordings are hard to obtain period. Please let me know if you do. I don't think Haendel's playing of Bloch's 'Avodah' has been re-mastered from the 78.

Try emailing bill78@btinternet.com if you want to buy a copy. He has a large collection and I think he has one for sale, though it might be listed under its HMV #'s (DB6139 & DB3782), Decca #K1076, or Victor #15887 releases.
