How far would "not too far" be? Don't forget Germany is only about half the size of Texas.

So, how about Dora Bratchkova

or Valerie Gradov
http://www.muho-mannheim.de/personal/Bios/gradow-waleri.htm

or Roman Nodel

They all teach at the pretty well known Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts. Mannheim is about 11 miles away from Heidelberg and there are trains about every 20 minutes or so.

Wow, thanks! I'll look into it. After driving 45 min for lessons, I'm sure this distance will not be a problem.

For these professors there will be most likely entrance exams. Let me know, in case you need more background info on these teachers.

Does anybody have any information on Ingolf Turban or Josef Rissin? Teaching style, personality etc. What about Yair Kless?
From Melanie Buch

Ingolf Turban is teaching in stuttgart and has an excellent name there! The level of his class is also rather high, and he's quite a demanding teacher!
Rissin is in Karlsruhe, and as long as I know, he's more interested in young prodigies...
As for Yair Kless, he's both teaching in Austria and Israel but I wouldn't recommend him!!

Sorry - been mad busy and only popping in for moments at a time - thought Sydney was going to California or something - spill the beans, or I'll make you cry like a girl..........

Is she going to study in Graz with Kless, or Manchester? With Rissin, or with Ingolf Turban in Stuttgart - that's not so far from Heidelberg. Tell Tell. She'll frgive you - you know she always does in the end.

Yair Kless is or was teaching in Graz, Austria, as long as I know...I didn't hear many good things about him though...my friends weren't that pleased with him. They just told me he had not lots to say in general, and doesn't do much technique...I just heard him once in a recital in Stuttgart and found it pretty boring...All the notes were there but that's it!
