Great CD for recommendation

CD reviews: Though this is violinist.com nevertheless such wonderful viola CD is worth recommending..Lilian Fuchs!

Recently released from DOREMI is the complete Bach suites played on the viola by Lilian Fuchs (if anyone knew her). This recording surpass the only recording of the Suites (he only recorded 1-5) played by William Primrose.

I myself played the viola too and Im totally amazed by how she could phrase the line so beautifully playing everything in one line. Juz leave me with mouth wide open after listening. I think no one played the suites better than her.

Introduced by my very good violist friend who went down to NYC. He came home with lots of goodies including 2 recently released remastered CDs of David Nathan and this is one of my favourites

She played the No.6 Suite in original key. A note that why Primrose refused to record the last suite its because the arrangement made the last suite quite difficult.

ms. fuchs and her brother juseph are two underrated virtuosi. i rarely hear enough about their amazing playing but sam applebaum has interviews with both of them in 'the way they play' book series.

Lillian Fuchs was my chamber music coach for several years while I was at Manhattan School of Music. She really was one of the best coaches I ever had!
The wonderful stories she had to share with us, and the vast knowledge of the repertoire which she knew by memory ofcourse (each individual part), delighted us.
Always very generous with her time and very sincere. She invited my quartet to Aspen (on fellowships ofcourse) and was very encouraging.
There is also a great recording of the Mozart Symphonia Concertante with her and her brother.
She truly was one of the greatest violists of her time, even Pinchas Zuckerman will vouch for that. She was in the "In Circle" of the Musical Elite and was loved by them as she was by all of us.

This indeed is the best recording of these pieces. Everything is played with total commitment and immense musicality.

Miss Fuchs was a great teacher and a delightful person, with a big heart. The five years I spent as her student were some of the happiest and most rewarding years of my life.

I found the details of the symphonia concertante, but where would one find it? Only on vinyl? I am madly in love with the Bach Suites. I want more of Fuchs if there is more.

Mozart Divertimento in E-flat for vln, vla, and cello. Live performance from Prades festival. performed by Joseph Fuchs, Lillian Fuchs, Paul Tortelier. This will not only want to make you die, but also jump off a tall building with a running start. One of the most startling, inspired, live chamber music performances I have ever heard. And such fine playing by all. On Koch International, along with the finest Mozart symphonia concertante on record, which happens to be live by Joe and Lillian Fuchs.
