Daniel,Posted on November 30, 2004 at 07:13 AM That's a very tough question with an even tougher reply. Best bet is to take the violin to a qualified appraiser, otherwise you'll end up with a hundred opinions here. :) BTW, the 1st picture of the violin was somehow reversed left to right. Chinrest should be on the left side of the tailpiece, unless is a 'leftie's violin'. Good luck. From Adam Smith
Looks damn good...I'd like to have a fiddle like that..

Yeah - my iSight (webcam) reversed some of those pictures - it's a regular set-up.

For Daniel Gordon: I just bought a Henri Voiriot violin in a flea market. Same label as yours with what appears to be a bit darker varnish. The model seems to be the same as yours, very squarish corners. The neck has a 32mm projection! Could that be original? This violin was in a very derelect condition and since I am an amateur luthier I decided to fix it up myself. I would be interested to know if this is a violin that should be turned over to a professional repairer or if I can safely experiment with it myself. So far I have just touched up the scrapes and scratches but I do plan on lowering the neck angle to 27mm projection. If your Voiriot has a very high angle then maybe I should just leave it like that since that would mean Voiriot planned it like that! At any rate I am interested in any developments with your violin. I´ll keep checking this site.
