Pinchas Zukerman Masterclasses Online

Schools: There are several masterclasses of Pinchas Zukerman available free and totally legal off the internet at the websites of the National Arts Center in Ottawa, Canada which Zukerman heads up.

Perhaps many of you know about this already, but I figure I'd inform those who may not. There are several masterclasses of Pinchas Zukerman available free and totally legal off the internet at the websites of the National Arts Center in Ottawa, Canada which Zukerman heads up.

There are two locations which have masterclass videos that I have found so far. There could be more!

Zukerman is a really magnetic and cool guy, as you'll see in these videos. He addresses really fundamental issues of violin playing, particularly bow arm issues, and is an altogether outstanding teacher. I hope you guys like these.

Re: videos, there's a new one w/ Vengerov playing Monti's Czardas w/ 3 bass players. This site also has some master classes, but they are not as good as Zukerman's.

Very informative links! I don't like hearing Zukerman play, but his advice was really helpful. That Brahms, especially, needed some serious help. Thanks!

I'm in the Bach one at the moment but the video is not keeping up with the sound. Does anyone know how I fix this? I am using Real Player. It sounds really good and is clear on the sound. Thankyou for telling us about this site, I really appreciate it.

In case this helps anyone out there who has just had the same trouble as me, download onto the hard drive and it will fix the problem..... Does anyone know if we can buy these masterclasses on video or DVD? Are there any other good masterclasses we can buy on DVD ?

In case anyone tries downloading onto hard drive to fix the problem of the video being too slow for the playing and the speaking, don't try it as it won't work for me as the copyright, which I understand, won't allow it onto hard drive. I have had it explained to me by my better half who knows a bit more about computers. It wouldn't be legal anymore either to download it onto hard drive. Does anyone know whether we can buy all the DVD's of this? Apologies if I have messed up anyone with problems trying to get the video to match the sound. I just wanted to watch it to learn from it, so will have to settle for the sound until I can buy the DVD of it hopefully....maybe we could contact the universities involved to see if we could purchase the DVD's. Any suggestions?

I am a technological neophyte, so I probably can't help you much, but from what I understand these videos are streaming, which means they cannot be downloaded onto the hard drive even if copyrighting permitted it. What happens is a small file is downloaded on to your computer and then the video "streams" from the site offering it. Therefore, usually failure to play has something to do with your internet connection. Sorry I can't help much : (
