Neil Ertz

October 13, 2016 at 01:48 PM · The master luthier, and much loved human being, Neil Ertz passed away suddenly last week, 5th October, after reportedly suffering a ruptured aneurysm.

Others will be better able than me to articulate the huge loss his untimely death is, not only to his family and friends, but to the world of violin making. There are many tributes on his Facebook page.

I am posting this now as there will be a memorial service this Saturday morning (15th), at 10:30am in St Mary's Cathedral Edinburgh, just in case anyone would wish to attend who had not heard this very sad news.

October 13, 2016 at 03:19 PM · Too young, he was only 50, my thoughts go out to his family and friends. I didn't know the guy, but reading the threads on Maestronet.com, he had a lot of friends and was very free with his knowledge and helped a lot of people, he will be missed.
