Strange pain...

October 9, 2016 at 06:02 PM · Hi all,

so recently I have been doing a lot of practice because I had an important audition for a youth orchestra coming up. However, a couple days before the audition I started noticing something unusual: when I pressed down on my second finger, I got pain near my armpit/underarm. After the audition I stopped playing for about 1 week, but it still hasn't gone away and in fact seems to be getting worse. Obviously I am quite worried about it, so has anyone had this before and has any advice?? Will it go away? Thanks to anyone in advance :)

Do you also feel tingling and numbness in your fingers? Could be nerve compression, but I do not want to speculate.

It is a good idea to see the doctor sooner than later. Some of those symptoms are the tip of the iceberg and take long time to develop.... and even longer time to heal.

In the meantime do tell what brand of SR are you using.

My hunch it is "Bon Musica", and if proven to be true, stop using it immediately.

And, by the way, I'm using a Kun shoulder rest, soon switching to a forte secondo by Wolf
