Posted on August 19, 2009 at 04:45 PM Before moving to St. louis I was based at LaGuardia and JFK for TWA for twenty years. I know my way around New York. My wife and I flew into LaGuardia and took a cab to JFK where my car was parked in the TWA Employees lot. The driver took us the loooonnnng way to JFK. This relates to this subject as to what we did NOT leave with the cab. A tip. From Adam Clifford
Posted on August 19, 2009 at 06:34 PM A Pressenda is NOT peanuts; I'm sure that it's a lovely violin! People sure do need to be more cautious of this type of thing. I know that I'd never forgive myself if I left anything like that ANYwhere. These people are fortunate enough to get their fiddles back, though. Some people aren't so lucky! Also, I think many concert musicians don't realize the gravity of being loaned an instrument. In my understanding, when an organization, company, etc. loans a person an instrument, they expect said person to guard the instrument with their life! From Emmanuel Borowsky
Posted on August 21, 2009 at 03:25 AM Sheer stupidity. Almost as bad as my friend who shall not be named who left her Pressenda and Peccatte in the trunk of her Lexus overnight in the middle of winter. I can't really forgive her, but wow what a violin and bow they are. uh sorry to get side tracked. Just think if people are this mindless we should relieve them of their responsibilities. Posted on August 21, 2009 at 12:44 PM While on orchestra tour in Japan, one of our violinists left their violin case on the tram in the Tokyo airport. It was fun waiting for the tram to cycle around again. Luckily, the case was sitting in a seat when the doors opened... From Bob Annis
Posted on August 21, 2009 at 05:17 PM Sadly, the only way 99.9% of violinists will be able to get an instrument of this quality is to moonlight as an NYC cab driver.
