Posted on June 29, 2009 at 08:18 AM the actual instruments cut are not listed but I am sure the program will not suffer....perhaps was decided on knowing what instrumental needs would be prior to cutting anyway. It's not like the second fiddle section will be pre-recorded. Hey, is Perlman on the docket this summer??????? From Ryan Frania

Posted on June 29, 2009 at 01:35 PM In the community orchestra where I play (I would call it a semi-professional ensemble) they took a different approach to budget cuts. For next season there is one concert that is only winds and one that is only strings, Also, a couple of concerts won't utilize all the string players, Everyone is still in but not everyone plays all the time. I'm happy with that compromise. From Bruce Bodden

Posted on July 13, 2009 at 09:14 PM Maybe if major orchestras they didn't pay conductors a zillion dollars to conduct a few concerts here and there they could actually save some jobs for other people who need them. From Tom Holzman
Posted on July 14, 2009 at 01:21 PM What Scott said. You could probably rehire all the flutes on what the conductor makes. From Anna Meyer
Posted on July 14, 2009 at 06:37 PM Why fire all the flutes? They are an important part of orchestra. |
