The master luthier, and much loved human being, Neil Ertz passed away suddenly last week, 5th October, after reportedly suffering a ruptured aneurysm.
Others will be better able than me to articulate the huge loss his untimely death is, not only to his family and friends, but to the world of violin making. There are many tributes on his Facebook page.
I am posting this now as there will be a memorial service this Saturday morning (15th), at 10:30am in St Mary's Cathedral Edinburgh, just in case anyone would wish to attend who had not heard this very sad news.
