Experiences of JTS cx-500 stringed instrument mic?

October 5, 2016 at 02:13 PM · Hi

Currently looking for a microphone to fit to my violin, and use with a Ditto Mic Looper, for live solo performances at pub open mic nights.

Ditto Mic Looper

I have come across the JTS CX-500 mic, which comes with a violin mount. There is some video here, which appears convincing.

Violin and piano video.

Just wondered if anyone here had any direct experience of using this mic on their violin?

Some players do learn to keep the instrument turned to the left, out of the wind path. I was never very successful at that. In contrast, the DPA-4099v is positioned out of the wind path, and solves that problem very well. Admittedly it's in a whole different class in terms of price.
