Competitions:
By the age of 30, had won more Gold Medals and First Place awards in international instrument making competitions than any maker living today, and any maker in history.

"Hors Concours" in the International Competitions of the Violin Society of America. (barred from competing since 1982 by virtue of acknowledged excellence)

Restoration:
Former restorer in the Hans Weisshaar shop, and Program Director for the Violin Society of America/Oberlin College Restoration Workshops.

Other:
Has served as a judge for the Cremona instrument making competition in Cremona Italy, for the Violin Society of America competitions, and the China International Violin Making Competition.

Teacher and program director for the Oberlin College/VSA instrument technical workshops.

Member and former board member of the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers (the US professional group for violin and bow makers)

Member of the Entente Internationale De Maitres Luthiers Et Archetiers D'art (the international professional group for violin and bow makers).

Contributor to Strad magazine.
