A violin instructor of Siqing Violin Youth Orchestra of San Francisco since 2006. Founder and music director of the Stars Youth Orchestra in Fremont since May 2007. Mr. Zhang received his bachelor degree from Tianjin Conservatory of Music in China where he also taught for two years. In 1988 he came to the United States with a full scholarship and received his master degree from Oklahoma City University two years later. He was a full-time violinist with the Arkansas Symphony and the Quapaw String Quartet from1991-97, and taught at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, the Suzuki Association of Central Arkansas, and the Silicon Valley Youth Conservatory of San Jose State University. Since moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1997, Mr. Zhang has served as the concertmaster with the Stockton Symphony, Ohlone Orchestra, and the Huashi Chamber Orchestra; first violinist with the Fremont, Santa Cruz, and Modesto symphony orchestras. He is now teaching at his Lei Zhang Violin Academy in Fremont for the 12th year (since 1997), Fremont Youth Symphony (1999-2004). Mr. Zhang's first Violin Solo and Chamber Music CD Album was released on 2001. He was the President of Chinese Music Teachers Association of Northern California (2004-2005).
