 Jason HurwitzWilliamsport, PennsylvaniaPersonal website: http://myspace.com/hurwizzle Jason joined Violinist.com on Aug 17, 2007 My name is Jason, and I was born and raised in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, home of the Little League World Series. I began playing the violin at age 5 after seeing Itzhak Perlman play for Oscar the Grouch on Sesame Street. I started in the local Suzuki program studying with the amazing Pat Thayer, one of the original crew of Suzuki teachers in the States. After 8 years in Suzuki, I switched to Dr. Jennifer Sacher-Wiley who teaches at Susquehanna University. I stayed with her until college, at which time I studied with Glenn Basham. I got my degree in Music Education from the University of Miami and am now a certified music teacher. However, I've taken a hiatus from the teaching world and am currently touring in the unbelievably fun and fantastic violin group, Barrage!!! I saw them for the first time my senior year of high school and, though I've now been with them a year, I still can't believe I'm getting to live my dream.
