I grew up in the household of a very fine and well-known violinist, my father, Louis Berman (Curtis String Quartet). He was the older brother of William Berman, my uncle, and among other things former Principal Violist of the National Symphony and the violist of the Oberlin Quartet. They both contributed to my development, although my father was my primary teacher until college.
After graduate school in molecular biology I went into music full time and studied with Jani Szanto. Currently own the only violin shop in Pueblo, CO, and am in the process of writing a book for internet publication on the mechanics of the Russian method with my latest teacher, Vladimir Petrov, a classmate of Valery Oistrakh at Moscow conservatory. Very excited to be in touch with others of similar interests(addictions?) to talk of violins and violinists!!
