Conversational in nature and almost always intimate by design, quartet and quintet music occupies a realm all its own. Here we feature a pair of the finest of the genre: an early work by Schumann and Beethoven's final quartet. These two compositions provide a wide compass of the Romantic Era - Shumann's youthful bouyancy is contrasted here with the depth of Beethoven's full musical maturity. The DPO Principal Quartet and DPO Pianist Josh Nemith will provide impassioned advocacy for these brilliant works.
