![]() it (to an extent) doesn't really matter where you go to schoolJune 2, 2007 at 12:50 AM You know, after 4 years of musical education, and being about to embark on another 2, I really think that (to an extent) it doesn't matter where you go to school. Lots of people say this, and I used to, but I think it was more of a "well i couldn't get into juilliard, so i'll try to convince everyone that it doesn't really matter."Now, I think it is really important to go to a school where you are inspired to practice and have a good teacher with whom you can have a supporting, mutually respectful and friendly relationship. So, where you find that is where you should be going to school. Not that if you get into that big name school you shouldn't go, but I really think it is important to think more about the experience you get in school instead of the reputation of the school. For some people, the big time school is the perfect place for them to flourish, but for others, it's much better to go to a smaller, less competitive school. I think there's no one school that is good for everybody. That and scholarship money. The cheaper the better! That's basically the way I've chosen where to go to school, and it's worked pretty well. Man, summer is getting so boring that I've started blogging again! This entry has been archived and is no longer accepting comments. |
