Good grief, not again

May 2006: Jinjoo Cho performs the Shostakovich violin concerto at the finals of the Montréal International Musical Competition and suffers a memory slip in the scherzo movement. The orchestra stops, and soloist and orchestra restart the movement. She wins anyway.

May 2008: Elizabeth Schumann performs Chopin's first piano concerto at the finals of the Montréal International Musical Competition and suffers a memory slip in the rondo movement. The orchestra stops; Schumann backtracks a few bars, picks up where she left off, and rushes to finish the piece.

She didn't win (unfortunately). But it's odd how history repeats itself in such bizarre manners.
