IMSLP reopening July 1st

April 18, 2008 12:08

From the most recent change to the wiki for the International Music Score Library Project:

Update: It has been confirmed that IMSLP will be online again on July 1st, 2008 at 12AM EST.

The IMSLP was a wiki-based repository of thousands of music scores in the Canadian public domain--a musical Gutenberg Project of sorts, if you will. It was taken offline last fall after not having the resources to fend off a legal threat from Universal Edition, a publisher in Austria.

I encourage you to visit when it comes back online again.

Moscow, April 14, 1958

Van Cliburn becomes a musical hero. And I don't mean hero as in "guitar hero", either.

This is video from Cliburn's 1962 return to Moscow.

If you're unfamiliar with the Van Cliburn story, the Van Cliburn Foundation would be a great place to start.
