June 2007Postcard from Russia, Vol. IIJune 26, 2007 19:45Some more clips from the Tchaikovsky competition are presented here for your listening pleasure. Mayuko Kamio of Japan playing Tchaikovsky's Meditation in D minor: Nikita Borisoglebsky of Russia playing the Ysaÿe Ballade: Yuki Manuela Janke of Germany playing the compulsory work, Frolov's Fantasia for solo violin in memory of David Oistrakh. It's a very interesting piece. Some of it seems strongly influenced by the music of Ysaÿe. All three have made the finals of the competition, which begin tomorrow.
