Folly

November 12, 2009 at 5:17 AM

I was rereading some of my old blogs today and, as many of you warned me, I see how foolish I was!  Not necessarily in a bad way, in a funny way.  I'm glad I have those old entries, though, because I forgot about many of the stories, troubles, and victories that I blogged about.  Anyway, I hope to get back to blogging here more frequently over more ... substantive ... topics.  Until then.

We will look forward to your future blogs.  Do not be ashamed of your past ones; they reflected who you were at the time.  You are right to treasure those stories.  When you reach my age, it is a lot more difficult to remember what happened when you were a teenager, and I did not write most of it down.

I can relate.

I have learned so much things here about how to tell things and most importantly, what people generally accept or not as an opinion.  It's even more complicated because I know some forums are more "childish" or "rude" or "snob" than others.  I'm happy to almost exclusivly post on v.com because people are so kind here and everyone knows that when you are young, you tell things differently and dare more to tell them...  I also have some of my posts that bring me smiles. Some posts that I still believe in the "idea" I discussed but would find way to "risky" or "controversial" to post now : )

My biggest lesson: just talk about too "boiling" or controversial topics with your family or very close friends.   The guy who posted the story about the cheap shot his teacher did to him just created such a fright in me. I even heard stories of boss who check the posts of their employes. (But I think it was sites as facebook and youtube few...)

I'll read your new posts two!

Anne-Marie

as for beeing foolish: I steel have a very hard time to not laugh or to avoid telling something funny.  Sometimes I just can't resist. With my homework comes something that is called the "need" to laught to forget all of them...

Welcome back, Sydney.  I look forward to hearing more from you.

My blogs have changed over time, too, but in a way consistent with most of the others here.  I used to use this community as a support group.  When I experienced something unrelated to music which upset me, like being mugged, I wrote about it in my blog.  I wrote about things that were very personal, even if they were unrelated to music.  Now my blogs are less personal and more violin-rated.

I'll never forget the energy you put into Josh/Oprah. Makes me angry that that wasn't enough to make it happen. What a wonderful, heartwarming story THAT would have been, if it DID happen. Ah well, live and learn, eh? : )

So glad to see you here - how's college? And are you still considering a career in arts administration? I imagine this horrible recession has made a lot of people back away from the thoughts of arts or nonprofit administration, simply because that's one of the first places to get the hatchet these days. So unfair. : (
