Oh No, Not Again

August 14, 2008 at 3:45 AM

I have weak, wobbly ankles. My connective tissue is not strong enough to hold my ankles in place. I have fallen and injured myself many times, most recently last night. Oh, no, not again. I’ve been fortunate in getting help. Several people helped me just after I fell, and one of them gave a ride home. When I got home, one of my students was waiting for me. She helped me walk up the thirty, yes thirty, steps from the parking lot to my door. I gave her a lesson, had something to eat, and called 911 to get a ride to the hospital. I was X-rayed and found that I had broken a bone (tarsal) in my foot. After a mere 5 hours, I was home again. This evening, a neighbor went out and got my prescription for a painkiller filled and also picked up some food for me. Another friend came by for a mercy visit. Tomorrow, I get to see an orthopedist. Things have gone pretty well for me, especially getting help from other people. Nevertheless, I’m hobbling around my home in pain and will continue to do so for weeks. Oh no, not again.
